INTERPRETATION OF NORTH POLE
The North Pole is defined as the point in the Northern hemisphere where the earths axis of rotation meets its surface. It is the northernmost point on earth, lying diametrically opposite of the South Pole. It is located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean amid waters of shifting ice, so it is impractical to try to build anything permanent on it, however, Russia has constructed a number of manned drifting stations annually since 1937. They have also established a base close to the Pole in Barneo. Currently under international law, no country owns the North Pole or the region of the Arctic Ocean surrounding it although most every nation closest to it claims it.
Sea depth has been measured at 14000 ft. Since the North Pole is in the ocean at sea level, it is warmer than the South Pole and despite being an ice cap, it shares some characteristics of a tundra climate with temps in July & August peaking above freezing, a high of 55 has been recorded.
Most places on earth time is measured by the sun position or longitude, but the sun only rises and sets once a year and since there is no permanent human presence there is no set time zone and explorers use whatever they are familiar with. The sun rises around March 20 and sets around September 23. The Aurora Borealis, northern lights that come from geomagnetic storms- (magnetic shock wave from the sun)
In western culture, Santa Clause is said to live at the North Pole. Other mythology say that it is the abode of God or superhuman beings. Islam Iranian mysticism says claims that sought after is in the North.
