A sovereign state of western Europe it borders France & Germany on the North Sea across from Great Britain. Between the 16th century & 1830, it was often used as a battleground between many European powers to such a point it was dubbed the “Battlefield of Europe”.
It is a founding member of the EU, NATO, EUROZONE, OECD, WTO, Benefux Union, and official ‘seat’ to many of its programs are in its capital, Brussels.
Religion- largely a secular nation but mostly Roman Catholic “balanced” by freethought movements. Freethought is basically atheist.
Christianity- 65% (Catholic 58%), agnostic/atheist 27%, Muslim 5%
