Island nation halfway between Norway & Iceland within the Kingdom of Denmark but an autonomous nation. Yet Denmark controls its military, police, justice, currency and foreign affairs. In 2016 they legalized same sex marriage.
Despite its northern location, temperatures average above freezing most of the year because of the Gulf Stream. Despite having 18 major islands and many littler ones, they have so many bridges, tunnels and ferries that they have lost much individual identity among the islands and think of themselves as one large metropolitan area.
